Livestock Microbiome is all about harnessing microbiomes for improved animal health and productivity. We use holistic AND unconventional approaches to:

- reduce reliance on the microbial usage in food-producing animals.
- mitigate environmental impact of animal protein production.
Our holistic approach includes the examination and consideration of the microbial communities residing within the:
- respiratory
- gastro-intestinal
- reproductive tracts, and
- other microbial communities associated with the feet and eyes – specifically of cattle
By studying each of these microbiomes, we can tackle metabolic and infectious diseases and fertility issues.
The unconventional approach that we use refers to the application of cutting-edge technologies such as multi-omics, artificial intelligence, and biosensors to understand the role of the microbiome. This gives us insight into detailed animal development, pathogenesis, and feed efficiency phenotypes.
In addition, we add research into the role of the maternal and paternal microbiomes in fetal programming and offspring development.
